Taking the family on a South Africa safari is a holiday that will appeal to kids of all ages. Home to a wide array of wildlife that can be seen thriving in their natural habitat, there are many places including the Kruger National Park where you will come face to face – from a safe distance – to the “Big Five” – buffalo, lions, leopards, elephants and rhinos.

Ballooning in the West Country

The rural West Country is one of the most scenic areas in Britain; filled with rolling hills, quaint villages and delightful ocean harbours. There is a huge appetite for hot air ballooning in the area, with the Balloon Fiesta being held in Tavistock, Devon every year. With the great variety of sights to see in this picturesque region of the UK, there is little surprise that ballooning is a popular pastime in the area.

A Getaway Built for Two

Sarangani: Sun, Blue Sky and Beaches

I have known the road like I lived there. Just don’t let me drive to prove my point, ok? After several years, not much has changed in the General Santos City to Sarangani route – which makes things just perfect. I loved the way it is and a deep wish is to keep it on hold for the longest time. The scenes along the way are breathtaking in their simplicity – friendly locals on motorbikes loaded with farm produce from Malapatan and nearby towns, rusting bridges with interesting characters of their own (there was heavy rain the night before we traveled so the rivers were still noisily flowing), the combined blue and green landscapes interspersed with mountains on one side and a dazzling sea on the other.

Things to Consider on Your Kilimanjaro Trek

Mount Kilimanjaro has always been one of Africa’s outstanding landmarks. Compiled of three volcanic cones, the mountain dominates the horizon of the Kilimanjaro national park. It has always been a revered obstacle to climb, favoured because of its variety of routes. However with Kilimanjaro standing at almost 6,000 meters above sea level, it’s certainly no easy accomplishment. Here are just a few things you certainly need to consider while planning to climb Kilimanjaro.

Take a Trekking Challenge

For the last three or four years there has been nothing but economic crisis, political upheaval and generally an overhanging depression. With all the negative press and the end of the world apparently upon us (according to evangelical Harold Camping) I decided to do something extraordinary with my small savings. In November last year I beat the gloom with a trekking trip to the Himalayas.

A 30th Birthday Kilimanjaro Treat

For something a little different why not plan a group holiday somewhere amazing for those up and coming thirtieths? At least once in your life, whether it is the year of the fortieth, thirtieth or even twenty first birthdays, someone will want to make a splash. The usual culprits are trips to Las Vegas or weekends in Prague. The big 3 0 is a pinnacle point in your life and you deserve to feel a sense of achievement.

This Is Africa

Safari holidays and adventure holidays are growing in popularity. As the world grows smaller with cheaper flights, the internet and deals to far flung places, there has been a slow demise of the annual family week to the Spanish sun. Adventure travel is big business and a sought after experience, is safari. Make sure the company offer Responsible Travel though. It’s all about giving back and supporting the countries you travel too now, long gone are the days of an English fry up in Tenerife, served by a begrudging local.

Seeing the Great Wildebeest Migration Was a Life-Changing Experience

Having been on an African safari before, I felt I knew what to expect when I headed to Tanzania for an action-packed activity holiday. However, nothing could prepare me for what I was about to see in the Serengeti National Park. We had spent a few days exploring the Lake Manyara National Park following rhinos, lions and cheetahs in a 4×4 before I was told by one of the guides that we were extremely lucky to be in this part of the world at this time of year.
